Big Chief Who? Chapter 1 - Pilot
The Room is dark, not a sound can be heard. The clock on the wall reads 2AM. the building is empty, no one knows what to expect.
Suddenly a whooshing noise can be heared. Flashes of light can be seen, the contents of the wal blow arround until a latge long wall can be seen appearing, the wall vanishes, appears faint, dissapears one last time, before appearing again. A thud can be heared, similar to that of a fire extinguisher being dropped. At the same time the whoosing noise stops.
On this new wall is a door, on which there is a sign which reads: 'Mathematics: room D1 13' After a few seconds the door opens, light surrounds a figure standing in the doorway. The figure then shouts:
"Yes it worked!" The figure then returns behind the door and does not emerge.
Several hours later a young female is going round the building unlocking the doors to each of the rooms. She wonders up to the room where the new wall appeared, unlocks the door and walks in. She notices the new wall, turns arround and walks back out again. She then looks into the room with the wall.
"Thats not right" she says, and walks back in and tries the handle of the door.
Locked, what a surprise. The female then reaches into her pocket and pulls a ring of keys out. She then attempts to unlock the door with the various keys. No such luck, none of them fit.
"Thats all the keys for the building, someone must've changed the lock" she says as she comes to that conclusion.
she walks away, turns and notices that theres light under the door.
"Hey? someones in there now?" she asks herself as she walks towards the door again. she then knocks on the door and calls in.
"Is there anyone in there?" shuffleing can be heared inside, followed by a whispering of:
"Shit someone spotted me" the female can hear this and calls in again.
"Hello, I know theres someone in there. I did hear you." more shuffles can be heared.
"Come one! Who's in there?" she shouts.
"Great I'll have to shut her up. I can't work in these conditions" says the voice inside. The door swings open and once again light surrounds the figure. The female shields her eyes from the light.
"What do you want?" demands the figure,
"Who are you? What are you doing?" asks the female, who is still shielding her eyes from the light.
"What is this? twenty questions?" replies the figure, the female quickly replies with:
"No, only the two."
The figure chuckles,
"Ha ha, you got me there. Hi I'm Big Chief, and if I told you what I was doing I would kill you." The female pulls out a gun and says:
"I'd like to see you try, I'm loaded ant this is pointing strainght at your head" big chief raised his arms ans nervously says:
"Okay I'll tell you, I just don't feel comfortable right now" the female replaces the gun and says:
"Okay lets go somewhere else"
Big chief then closed the door, the brightness disapears again. Big chief steps forward. He is a tall man with dark hair, which is slihtly partinhg at the front. He is wearing a black shirt, trouses and polished shoes, all in black except his face.
They both leave the room and enter a coridor, big chief leads the female. They start to walk along the coridor.
"So, yeah. I'm big chief and I'm a mathematition" Says big chief, the female replies with:
"Well duh, thats what it says on your door" Big chief stops, looks at the female, and says:
"What?? you mean it's still there?" he says with a confused expression on his face.
"Yeah, it says Mathematics room, D1-13. I shouldn't worry about it though" she replies.
"Wow I didn't think it would still be there. Let me ask you, doesn't that sign seem odd?" he asks as they continue to walk along the coridor, opening doors as they go. The female answers with:
"Wo not really, this is a building of reasearch, and we are on floor 13 of building D"
"Floor 13 eh? wow" big chief comments.
"Are you okay?" asks the female
Before Big chief can answer a loud siren which is outside the building can be heared.
"Shit! thats the three minute warning" She screems
"For what?" asks big chief
"The Dynamite, and we can't get down thirteen floors in three minutes"
"Follow me!" shouts big chief.
They both run down the coridor. Both bashing doors open that are in their path. They run towards the room where the wall apeared. They run in. Big chief places his hand on the door. The door opens. They both get in.
The room they enter is a large round room with a black round central desk. The desk has various levers, moniters and cup holders on it. The walls seem to emit a faint green colour, which is easy on the eye. Arround the brightly lit room there are four X shaped vertical colums. The X shapes appear to have a more yellow hint to them than the walls. There are no obvious light sources apart from the moniters, which would be unable to light the room so well.
"Whoa this room is bigger than the floor" notes the female, as big chief stands next the the big round desk
"Close the door" booms big chief
"We've not got any time, we've got to get down"
"Listen bitch, you do what I say or you go downstairs yourself, which you've already said isn't possible" Shouts big chief.
"No you listen to me! I'm the one with the gun remember?"
"Oh I remember alright, but that was no gun was it? no? a secret spasher 47, my kids have got one okay. Now close the door" says big chief slowly getting ticked off.
The female suddenly realises that big chief knows what he is talking about and gains respect for him. She then closes the door.
"Right, now thats sorted, get up here by me" says big chief, pointing to nearby the desk. She complies with big chief's request. She notices there is a faint circular line further out from the desk.
Big Chief now pulls one of the levers, which are not marked, they may well do the same thing but it's not possible to tell. This lever makes the floor marked further away from the desk drop down, that or inside the line raises up, there is no way to tell without any referance points. Big chief then touches one of the flat pannel moniters, it is obviously a touch screen. Water fills the lower area that is effectively a ditch, the water doesn't quite reach the height of the upper area but it's close. Big chief touches another screen button.
"Now, hold on tight" The female grabs hold of the small hand rail that circles the desk. Big chief pulls one more lever down, slowly at first. This causes the vertical columns to start to move, slowly. He then pulls the lever down the rest of the way. The columns then speed up, faster and faster. This causes a whir and a whoosh noise. After several seconds it becomes impossible to see the columns, and waves appear in the water where the columns should be. Big chief pulls one last lever, which makes a small seat emerge from the water. The seat is surprisingly dry.
"Please have a seat" says big chief politely
The female then once again complies with big chief, and sits down.
"You look a bit shocked" says big chief calmly. The female nods, and looks down at the floor.
"What is this place? it's bigger inside here than it looks" says the confused, stressed female.
"This is my ship. It's a TAR-Net, which stands for Time And Relitive - Network. It allows me to travel anywhere and anywhen in the universe." Explains big chief. "Do you want me to show you, miss erm? sorry you didn't tell me your name" asks big chief scratching his head.
"My name's Rosie, and no you don't have to show me"
"Are you sure?" asks a sympathetic big chief.
"I, I Just want to go back to work." Says Rosie. Big chief then procedes to push several buttons. "The thing I don't get right, is if you can go anywhere in the universe then why'd you come here?" asks Rosie.
"You see thats the thing, the TAR-Net has some bugs, which pulls me off course. I've no idea it would bring me here."
Outside of the ruins of the recently demolished dropdown institute, the construction engeneers are prepareing for the removal of the rubble. When sparks flash from the top. The engeneers each look at each other and start shouting about the electricity. When the whooshing noise started, drowning out the sound of each engeneer. Now instead of a wall apearing, a small green and black porta-cabin is appearing and disapearing. It finally stops disapearing, Then a loud thud stops all the whooshing.
The door opens and then big chief gets out. Rosie also walks out.
"Now remember I parked on top of the rubble." Says big chief as he and Rosie start to walk down the mountain of rubble.
When they finally reach the bottom, they head towards the larger porta-cabin with the sign 'construction office' on the side. Men in hard hats approach big chief.
"What's going on here?" asks big chief. One of the workers steps forward.
"And who are you to ask?" says the head worker.
"I'm big chief and if you don't mind I'd like to know why you demolished this building with Rosie in it?" asks big chief
"We have a schedual to keep to" says the leader.
"Life is more important than Scheduals, or is it, just maybe, because you're key skills minions? Type 2 to be precise." shouts big chief. The leader and all the workers go white. "You don't like the dark do you? Kind of like the reverse of Dracula?" says big chief. Who then, even though it's a sunny day, opens his umberella. He then places it over another one of the minions, shadowing him from the light.
The minion then shrivles up and turns to dust.
"Now leave this planet!" demands big chief.
"Never!" shouts the leader.
"I didn't want to do this, as it's not really my style" says big chief, who then gets out a small device with a keyboard. He then pushes a few buttons. A large pole then emerges from the TAR-Net, and a circular wire frame extends from it, covering over all of the minions.
"Last Chance, leave or else!" says big chief.
"NO!" shouts the lead minion once again.
"Too bad" says big chief, as he pushes one more button.
A large canvas spreads over the wire frame, shadowing everyone underneath it. All of the minions start to shrivle and turn to dust.
"Are they dying?" asks Rosie
"Naa, I'm not that sort, they simply turn to dust, for oooh, Fifty years. So long as they get on average 25 years of strong sunlight" explains big chief. "You see they don't have a planet, they take on the form of the locals. They then destroy all buildings and forms of shade. Then the locals get skin problems from too much sunlight, and then die, if it wasn't for there need for sunlight they'd be quite happy to live with the locals." Continued Big Chief. All of the minions had disapeared but the time he'd finished.
Big chief then pressed a button on the small device and the cover and pole retracted. He then started to walk back towards the TAR-Net.
"Where do you think your going?" asks Rosie.
"To continue my search, why?" replies big chief.
"well, I want to come." answers Rosie.
"If you want to, mind you it is dangerous" Replies big chief.
Rosie then runs towards big chief, they then go back into the TAR-Net which reluctantly disapears. Leaving the ruble standing. The police shortly arrive to investigate the building site.
